Risk Disclosure
Event contracts are speculative. You can lose the entire amount you stake. Langbot provides data, not advice. Nothing on this site is a recommendation to buy or sell any contract.
Market risk
Prediction-market contracts settle at $0 or $1. Long-tail "mention" markets are thinly traded; prices can move sharply and you may not be able to exit a position at any price.
Latency and execution risk
Measured leads over public streams are historical and vary by source. Venues may delay or reject orders on live events (Kalshi Rule 13.1(i)), apply taker delays (Polymarket), or halt markets. A detected phrase does not guarantee a fill, a price or a profit. More listeners erode any latency edge.
Data risk
Speech recognition makes mistakes. Phrase detection can produce false positives (homophones, operator speech) and false negatives (crosstalk, bad audio). Sources can drop mid-event. Treat every event as a measurement with a confidence, not as truth.
Software risk
Strategies, including those drafted with LLM assistance, are your code. Review them. Use paper (demo) mode and risk rails (max position, daily loss stop, allowlists) before trading live. Bugs can place orders you did not intend.
Regulatory posture
Langbot is designed as passive, non-custodial software that emits facts, runs user-authored strategies on the user's machine with the user's keys, and charges flat fees (see CFTC Staff Letter 26-25). It is not a broker, adviser, introducing broker or commodity trading advisor. You are responsible for your venue's rules, your jurisdiction's law, and for never trading on material non-public information.
Recording and sources
We listen only to public broadcasts, webcasts and open dial-ins, register under our real identity and document provenance for every source. Some sources may carry "do not record" terms; those are a contractual matter between us and the source and never your responsibility.
